Indulging in a luxurious dining experience is one of the many pleasures London has to offer. And for seafood lovers, there's no greater delight than sinking your teeth into succulent and meaty king crab legs. Is a highly sought-after dish in restaurants across the world. In London you can find this royal delicacy, known for its sweet and delicate flavour, at Beast in Chapel Place, Mayfair.

Where is it from?

The Norwegian King Crab served at Beast come from the icy depths of the North Atlantic, where they thrive in the cold and nutrient-rich waters. It is this pristine environment that contributes to the unique and unparalleled flavour of the king crab legs. These majestic creatures are sourced with utmost care and dedication, ensuring that only the finest quality and flavour make it to Beast, to then be presented on your plate. The process of sourcing these King Crab begins with skilled fishermen who venture into the treacherous waters of the North Atlantic. Equipped with years of experience, they skilfully catch these colossal creatures using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations.

Once caught, the King Crabs are carefully transported to the shore, where they undergo meticulous cleaning and preparation and are delivered fresh to us with the utmost care. Once they have arrived at Beast, our King Crab is held in special tanks, awaiting the arrival of our guests. From there, our Beast can pick out their very own crab and have it cooked and then de-shelled directly at the table, sampling some of the best King Crab in London.

Wine pairing at Beast

When it comes to pairing wine with King Crab legs, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind. The delicate and sweet flavours of the crab require a wine that won't overpower but rather complement and elevate the experience. One popular choice is a crisp and refreshing white wine, such as a Chardonnay Vinculum from Argentina or Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. These wines offer a light and citrusy profile that pairs beautifully with the sweetness of the King Crab meat. The acidity in these wines helps to cut through the richness of the dish, providing a refreshing balance that enhances each bite.

If you're feeling a touch more adventurous, you might consider a sparkling wine, such as a Champagne, such as the Efflorescence, Blanc de Noirs or Prosecco. The effervescence of these wines adds a lively and celebratory element to your dining experience, while the crisp and fruity notes perfectly complement the delicate flavours of the crab. For those who prefer red wine, a light and fruity Pinot Noir can be an excellent choice, as well as the Long Meadow Ranch, Cabernet Sauvignon. Its smooth tannins and vibrant berry flavours provide a subtle contrast to the sweetness of the king crab, creating a harmonious and well-rounded pairing.
