The Beast menu is a true haven for wine enthusiasts, offering an exceptional selection of Piedmont wines to delight your palate.

Gaja, Rossj Bass, Langhe

One standout bottle to try is the Gaja, Rossj Bass, Langhe, and Piedmont. This wine is known for its crisp acidity, refreshing citrus notes, and delicate floral aromas. It's the perfect choice for those seeking a light and vibrant wine to pair with our seafood dishes. Fresh King Crab and divine, tender lobster meat pair exceptionally well with a glass, or bottle, of this sensational wine.

Gaja, Gaia & Rey, Langhe

If you're looking for something truly special, the Gaja, Gaia & Rey, Langhe, and Piedmont are a must-try. This white wine is renowned for its complex flavours, with hints of tropical fruit, honey, and toasted nuts. It offers a luxurious mouthfeel and a long, satisfying finish. Again, we recommend this for seafood dishes, however, a glass of this with our fresh and crunchy Cauliflower Carpaccio or crispy and delicious Prawn Tempura is a truly unique match.

For a taste of history, the Castello, Grinzane Cavour is a great option. Produced in the iconic castle of Grinzane Cavour, this wine is made from Nebbiolo grapes and showcases the region's traditional winemaking techniques. With its intense red fruit flavours, velvety tannins, and a touch of earthiness, this wine embodies the essence of Piedmont.

If you prefer bold and structured wines, the Bussia, Northern Monforte d'Alba Ravera and Southern Monforte d'Alba Rocche di Castiglione are perfect. These Barolo wines are full-bodied and complex, with layers of dark fruit, spice, and leather. They have the potential to age beautifully and develop even more intriguing flavours over time. Pair this with a delicious tender cut of steak from the blackboard, such as a juicy Fillet and experience the magic of Beast in all its wonder.

Lastly, the CastiglioneFalletto Vigna Rionda and Serralunga d'Alba, both showcase the unique terroir of their respective vineyards. These wines are elegant and expressive, with intense aromas, well-integrated tannins, and a long, lingering finish.

Where is Piedmont?

Nestled in the stunning northwest region of Italy lies Piedmont. A captivating region surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, rolling hills and picturesque vineyards as far as the eye can see.

Located in the northwestern part of Italy and bordered by the towering Alps to the north and the Ligurian Apennines to the south. It is situated in the Piedmont region, which translates to "foot of the mountain" in Italian, perfectly summarising its geographical location at the foot of the Alps. This positioning creates a unique microclimate, which plays a significant role in producing the exceptional wines for which Piedmont is renowned.

The region is divided into several provinces, with the city of Turin serving as the capital. Turin is not only a hub of cultural and historical significance but also acts as the gateway to the mesmerising vineyards that dot the Piedmontese countryside.

The history of Piedmont wine

Piedmont wine is steeped in history, with its roots tracing back to ancient times. The region has been producing wine for centuries, and its winemaking techniques and traditions have been passed down through generations. The story of Piedmont wine begins with the ancient Romans, who recognised the region's potential for winemaking and began cultivating vineyards in the area. Over the years, Piedmont's wines gained a reputation for their exceptional quality and they were highly sought after by the nobility and the upper classes.

During the Middle Ages, monastic orders played a crucial role in preserving and improving winemaking techniques in Piedmont. The monks, known for their devotion to both religion and agriculture, introduced new grape varieties and innovative winemaking methods, further enhancing the quality of Piedmont's wines. In the 19th century, Piedmont wine achieved international recognition and acclaim. It was during this time that the region's most famous wine, Barolo, was first produced. Barolo quickly gained a reputation as the "king of wines," thanks to its bold flavours, high tannins, and exceptional ageing potential. Other iconic Piedmont wines, such as Barbaresco and Nebbiolo d'Alba, also gained popularity during this period.

In the early 20th century, the region faced significant challenges, including phylloxera outbreaks and political turmoil. However, Piedmont's winemakers persevered and continued to produce outstanding wines, maintaining the region's reputation as one of Italy's finest wine-producing areas. Today, Piedmont wine is thriving, with winemakers embracing both tradition and innovation to create wines that are true expressions of the region's terroir. From the earthy and complex Barolo to the elegant and aromatic Moscato d'Asti, Piedmont offers a diverse range of wines that cater to every palate.
